Following in his mother?s footsteps, Prince William honored fallen troops in Japan just as the late Princess Diana did 20 years ago this month.
On the second day of his four-day trip to the country, the 32-year-old royal visited the Yokohama War Cemetery, where more than 1,500 Commonwealth servicemen who died in Japan as prisoners of war or as part of the occupation afterward are buried.
A black-and-white photo of Princess Diana laying a wreath at the cemetery two decades ago was left by the book of condolences. Prince William paused to look at it and add his own heartfelt message to the book. ?May we never forget all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom,? he wrote.
